Kwania County Ayo Tonny “is believed to have hired a witch doctor” named Ogwang Peter alias Emma to perform a ritual at his place in Obolo-cani village.

Kwania – February 14, 2022: The North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson ASP Jimmy Patrick Okema Monday said the territorial command in Kwania District is investigating a case of suspected murder by poisoning on Odur Mike, 40.
Odur is a resident of Obolocani village, Ajar parish, Chawente sub-county in Kwania District.
According to Okema, on February 13, 2022, the area MP of Kwania County Ayo Tonny “is believed to have hired a witch doctor named Ogwang Peter alias Emma to perform a ritual at his place in Obolo-cani village”.
The MP’s decision, as stated by Okema followed the theft of Ayo’s 8 herds of cattle.
“…later, after the alleged ritual performed, three people were identified: Okello Innocent, one only identified as Okello and Odur Mike [now deceased],” he added.
All were made to pay a fine of shs3.000.000 each. Odur who failed to raise the money was forced to drink a liquid substance by the witch doctor, and Okema revealed the same liquid was drunk by Ebuu Walter.
Unfortunately, Odur died afterward.
“Police was notified and a team of detectives and others from Kwania District visited the scene, carried out a postmortem and some samples extracted from the kidney, spleen to be submitted to Government Analytical Laboratory for further findings.”
Suspects are all at large, North Kyoga PRO told journalists on Monday.
“We are yet to summon the area Member of Parliament through the Director Criminal Investigation to come to make a statement at the police upon his involvement of inviting the witch doctor,” ASP Okema added.
Okema advised members of the public to desist from any act of primitive ways of handling situations, adding they rather go through normal and formal ways as enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
As investigations go on, a case of murder by poisoning has been opened at Kwania vide CRB 52/2022.
MP Ayo could not be reached for an interview on his alleged role.
Local Radio stations have quoted him to have denied any involvement.
One Radio reported Ayo to have said his brother hired the witch doctor without his knowledge.
