Lira – February 9, 2022: Lira Chief Magistrate Court on Tuesday sentenced to 3 years in prison Bonny Nek, 18, for defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The Court found out that Nek defiled a primary five school girl after she disappeared from home. The victim who had just returned from the market disappeared from home for two days.

She would later be found on January 26, 2022, at the home of Nek in Olilo village, Itek sub-county, Lira district.

The State prosecutor confirmed that the test results showed that the girl is HIV positive while the boy is negative.

Before the judgment was delivered on Tuesday, the State prosecutor pleaded to Court to convict Okello to 4 years in prison plus a fine of Uganda shillings 500.000.00, averring that the girl suffered a lot during the medical examination.

Nek’s defense lawyer pleaded with the Court to allow Okello to serve one year in jail because he is an orphan who is also taking care of his siblings.

After listening to all the submissions, Chief Magistrate Abiti Loum sentenced Nek to 3 years.

“This should be a lesson to Nek,” he briefly said after his judgment.
