“We were denied talking to him. We just bought him food and left,” Lawyer Omara Atubo after visiting Otto.

Lira – January 17, 2022: Lango’s renowned and presumably the only political activist has been arrested.

Ishaa Otto Amiza was arrested Monday morning from his rural home in Loro, Oyam South in Oyam district.

Whereas reasons for his arrest is still unclear, in recent weeks, the former Oyam South MP on UPC ticket demanded that the potholed Lira-Kamdini road be worked on with immediate effect otherwise he would call for civic actions.

Otto also told road users to cooperate during the week of civil action. Many are now calling for his immediate release from the detention.

Pending the police official statement on why the former legislator was arrested, different statements have emerged, “all claiming he was arrested mobilizing the community to work on Lira-Kamdini road”.
