Samuel Dyelka, the OC traffic of Abim district confirmed the crash and said the causes were careless driving and overloading.
Abim – January 14, 2022: Twenty-seven (27) people have been rushed to Abim hospital after an overloaded Tipper lorry with sand and passengers overturned.
The vehicle with registration number UBJ 058T had loaded building sand and people from Alerek trading centre.
A total of 30 passengers were going to a market in Abim town. Those injured include 19 adults and 7 juveniles.
The incident happened on Friday at 8 am, TND News’ Hope Ochero reports.
“It [the lorry] lost control before entering Otalabar trading centre and went off-road seriously injuring people.” No fatalities have since been confirmed.
Three people have their legs broken into pieces. The rest seem to have sustained internal injuries.

He added that the driver has since run away. “He is a known person,” he told TND News.
By press time arrangement was being made to tow the vehicle to Abim police station.
Dyelka advised vehicle owners to give their vehicles to competent drivers with driving permits.
The OC traffic urged drivers to observe traffic rules while using the road.
