Odyek Boniface Macmoko is contesting for councilor Aboke sub-county to Kole district while Ogwal Denis campaigns to represent Aleka sub-county to Oyam district council.

Lira – 13, December 2021: Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has officially released names of its candidates to run for various vacant political offices.
This follows the nomination exercise of candidates for local government council by-elections conducted from 29 – 30 November 2021 by the Electoral Commission (EC) at respective district headquarters,
“UPC was able to get its candidates who showed interest nominated successfully and they are now the party flag bearers at various positions,” Arach Oyat Sharon, party spokesperson said.
She revealed the party flag bearers for the position of LC5 councilor include: Tumushabe Anxious, Nyamweru sub-county, Rubanda district; Odyek Boniface Macmoko, Aboke sub-county, Kole district; Ogwal Denis, Aleka sub-county, Oyam district; and Ogwal Benard, Alango sub-county, Otuke district.
For the position of LC 3 chairpersons Ayat named Okeng Thomas for Agwatta sub-county, Dokolo district; Obong Jimmy for Arwotcek sub-county, Amolatar district.
“Our party flag bearers are already carrying out campaigns that started on 2nd December and ending on 14th December 2021,” she said in a December 8 press statement.
“We call upon all party leaders, members, and supporters in those respective areas to work hand in hand with our candidates, help them campaign and reach out to the electorates to deliver the party’s central message from the party manifesto as well as offering them any necessary support towards these by-elections.”

The EC road map on by-election shows that elections will take place on 15th and 16th December 2021 for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and local government councils, respectively.
“We cautioned the public about the strain of a new variant of coronavirus called Omicron, which was identified in South Africa and other African countries. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health confirmed seven cases of Omicron variant in the country,” Arach said of the party’s previous statement.
“As you carry out by-election campaigns, we highly encourage you to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and we call upon those who have not been vaccinated to do so.”
