Soroti – 8, October 2021: The Serere County former Member of Parliament aspirant has injected Uganda shilling 44 million for the construction of water wells.
Engineer Martine Onguruco, one of the candidates that participated in the January 14 polls has resorted to boosting water coverage across the constituency.
While handing over the 14 wells in Pokor-A village Kateta Sub-county, Onguruco says he has constructed so far a total of 14 wells across the district.
He notes that a single well costs a minimum of 4milliion shillings depending on the geographical location.
Yoweri Otekat is the Parish councilor for Kamusala Kateta Sub-county to Serere district council. He notes that residents are now relieved from water-borne diseases arising from unclean wells.
He states that over one thousand people from Kamusala parish, a highly populated parish in the Sub-county will now benefit from the fresh wells.
He said that Pokor A village has only one borehole amidst the populace that struggles for water from a single source.
A section of the locals applauded Eng. Onguruco for the kind heart to support communities’ access to water.
The women narrated that the water well has saved them from trekking long distances and spending much time waiting for water from the already existing borehole.
