Soroti – 2, Oct 2021: Police have retrieved a lifeless body, Friday afternoon in ‘Cell K’, senior quarters ward in Soroti City West Division.

The deceased was identified as Arnold Charles Eceku. He is believed to be in his late 50s and a resident of Omalera ‘A’ village in Opuyo ward, Soroti City East Division. Unknown people murdered him in cold blood, report says.

A herdsman who preferred anonymity discovered his lifeless body, which was dumped near senior quarters’ spring well.

He has been supplying water from senior quarter’s spring well to homesteads, construction sites and restaurants in town.

Stephen Elemu confirms the late as his elder brother, whom he knows as someone without any bad record.

“He is my elder brother, and he has been a very humble man, not known for any criminal record. I feel pain, especially that he was just murdered in cold blood. It’s a great loss to us as a family,” said Elemu.

Some residents of senior quarters who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity eulogized the deceased as a social man who has been so friendly to people.

“That man’s bicycle was there at the well from morning till late in the evening, but we did not see him the whole day. It was till this morning when his body was found dumped near the well by unidentified people,” said a resident.

“He has not been having no issues with any and we are still wondering why he has been killed,” another resident adds.

Police took the body to Nakatunya mortuary Friday awaiting a postmortem, confirms Oscar Greg Ageca, the East Kyoga region Police spokesperson.
