Kole—31, July 2021: The government of Uganda recently disbursed shs200m each to Members of Parliament for the purchase of their personal vehicles.
One of the MPs, Dr Opio Samuel Acuti has said he has committed the funds to purchase three ambulances for his constituency.
“An ambulance costs shs120 million and shs360million is needed to buy three ambulances. I have therefore topped up shs160million on top of the shs200million from the government to purchase three ambulances,” Dr Opio Samuel Acuti says.
Kole North has three main sub-counties: Okwerodot, Alito and Aboke and town councils.
“Two months ago we lost two residents who were involved in an accident near Alito trading centre. They waited for three hours to get an ambulance and by the time it had arrived they had passed on,” the MP reveals.
“During the campaigns I had to personally go and pick a pregnant woman and drive her to Atan Health Centre IV,” he recounts.

He further recounts that the husband had spent two hours looking for a vehicle in vain and the only hope was his old Pajero.
“Her life was saved and she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy who was named Opio Samuel Acuti.”
“Health for the people of Kole is one of my priorities and this is just a starting point.”
