Lira Sports Academy resumes training as she observes Covid-19 SOPs

Lira – 24, March 2021: Children of Lira Sports Academy [LSA] in Northern Region has embarked on serious training this week. The training started on Monday 22nd March 2021 as they build their career in football under the management of head coach Mr Bob Obira and his team.

The academy has three age categories: U20 [25 players], U15 [20 players] and U12 [25 players]

CEO and head coach, Mr Bob Obira said the club is observing Standard Operating Procedures [SOPs] for Covid-19 by “avoiding too much physical contacts, use of sanitizer, face mask, with training season done in shift”.

“The club is able to do temperature checks on each player before and after the small group training on daily basis as confirmed by the club’s CEO, Mr Bobie Obira.

Mr Obira is also the LSA chairman.

Vice chairman and assistant coach, Mr Ortega James said the club also recently received some support from the Minister of Health, Dr Ruth Jane Aceng Ochero. The support (donations) included two temperature guns more than forty [40] face-masks.

Lira Sports Academy’s administration is having CEO/chairman/head coach – Mr Bob Obira, vice chairman/assistant coach Mr Ortega James, treasurer Mr Ogwal Eric, nurse Ms Julie Akello, welfare Mr Edward Pee, PRO Mr Daniel Moi and Ms Gloria Akao.

In the last seven months, LSA has secured a partnership deal with Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club [KCCA]. The deals come with various benefits and opportunities for the up-country players. Through the partnership, both parties unveiled new set of jerseys given by KCCA FC for 2020/202. The partnership will last for five years.

LSA is currently identifying and nurturing young players [talents] in Lango sub region in the different sports categories.

According to URN, the good working relationship started all the way back when Mr Bob Obira was once a player with KCCA for three years.

Mr. Obira locally known as Boby-Boby while at KCCA went through the hand of Mike Mutebi who is currently coaching KCCA FC.

LSA has produced a total of five players currently playing in different leagues. They are: Musa Ramadan, 18, Otim Jerom 16, Ogang Joseph 16, Ogwal Raphel, Ayoi Ambrose and a talented Uganda Cranes midfielder, Allan Okello who is currently playing with Paradou FC in Algeria. The latter played for KCCA FC and he is a product of LSA.
