Lira – 6, March 2021: Lira City residents have for the last five days undergone “acute water crisis” with many telling TND News “we can’t have a bath, we are thirty”.

The water crisis has affected two city divisions. National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Lira area, early this week issued a statement, alerting residents of the ongoing works to restore normal water flows.

On Saturday, a photo of how residents were stranded, some seen collecting water from the open (drainage) channel went viral on social media.

TND News Tweeted the photo to draw the attention of NWSC authorities, especially those at the headquarters in Kampala to understand the dire problem people of Lira City and surrounding areas are facing.

Soon, this is what the water body said:

“URGENT: Updates for Lira City
We have closed off water supply at Kacung treatment plant.

“This is to allow our engineers install new heavy duty pumps + standby generators at the facility.

“The intervention will boost water supply reliability in the new city.
