Kampala—30, January 2021: The Inspectorate of Government (IG) on Thursday evening arrested Dr Phillip Olinga, the district health officer (DHO) of Kotido.
He was arrested on allegation of causing a financial loss of Uganda shillings 46m which was meant for training health workers.
On Friday, 29 January, he appeared before the anti-corruption court at 9 am. He pleaded not guilty.
The ACC heard that Dr Olinga, between November 2014 and March 2015, swindled more than shs46m using his position as the Kotido DHO.
The Grade One Magistrate Sarah Namusobya who presided over the case granted Dr Olinga a cash bail of shs3m.
He is expected to return to the same court on 10 March 2021 for the mention of a case of swindling shs46m.
