Dokolo—12, December 2020: Some Lango people who were living in Rwanda have agreed to rally behind Lango Parliamentary Group (LPG) vice chairperson Paul Amoru Omiat.
They gave a reason that he (Amoru) funded their transport back to Uganda during Covid-19 lockdown.
Amoru, who also doubles as the Dokolo North MP and Chairperson ICT and National Guidance in Parliament, responded to ‘Lango in Rwanda’ by providing transport to those who were unable to come back to Uganda.
When most African countries were locked down to avoid the spread of Covid-19 between March to August 2020, some Ugandans in the Diaspora were helpless, including other country like Rwanda.
They wanted to return home, but public (regional) transport was suspended.
Speaking during the campaign rally for Paul Amoru in Amwoma sub-county, Kenneth Ogwl the chairperson Lango people living in Rwanda, testified how Amoru helped them during Covid-19 lockdown.
“As their chairperson, i wrote a letter to various persons seeking for support to help some of us come back to Uganda but Paul Amoru was the only passionate person who gave us shs200, 000 each to help us back during coronavirus,” he said.
“It is the only one way that we can thank him for the best he has done to our friends who were not able to travel back,” Ogwal added.
According to Ogwal, voters should join them for the better future other than following politicians who “only give alcohol” which will cost problems to people.
Isaac Newton Ayo, a former Lay Reader, also told TND News that they are rallying behind Amoru not because of money but to “compensate” him for supporting them by providing an ambulance in Dokolo County North.

“Desist from following politicians who are saying once they are mandated to Parliament they will get a market for sorghum stem, mango leaves, and maize stems respectively,’ he told his supporters.
“I have never seen market of sorghum stem, maize stem and mango leaves in Parliament, but there we go to lobby for support to our people and speaking on your behalf,” Amoru added.
