Lira—11, December 2020: Lango Sports Press Association (LSPA) has disclosed she will introduce Lango Sports Awards (LSA) for Lango footballers playing in Uganda Premier League (UPL) for the season that started December 2020.
The chairperson of LPSA, Mr Derogations Opio Oguti tells TND Sports that the new development is aimed at motivating indigenous Lango players in the UPL.

Mr Opio further says they hope that this award will also inspire young talents playing in the lower league and propel them to train hard and ensure they aim higher with their talents.
TND Sports has been told that so far seven players have been nominated for this inaugural award. They include Harvard Acai of Kampala City Capital Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) who participated in the two (2) games for his team and scored one (1) goal and one goal assist; Joackim Ojera of Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) was also involved in the first two games at the start of the season for his team but yet to reach the back of the net in his centre back position.

Others set to receive the award are Musa Rahamadan of KCCA FC, who also made fantastic display with the U20 team in just concluded UECAFA U20 as Uganda (The Hippos) emerged the Champions after displaying a win against Tanzanian in a 4 -1 score line.

Okwir Dickens Diara of UPDF FC, Badiru Fahad of SC Villa FC, Aliro Moses of KCCA FC and Isaac Ogwang of SC Villa who recently scored two goals against Mbarara City FC on match day two are all nominees.

Meanwhile, awards for other sports personalities of the year in different categories will be introduced at the end of 2021, according to the organisers.
Voting for the month of December finalists will happen on Sunday 20, December 2020 at Grand Pacific Hotel in Lira at 11:00am. The exercise will be manned by members of Lango Sports Press Association (LSPA).
