Kampala, Uganda – 7 October 2020: America (USA) has got its 46th President in Joe Biden.
Joe Biden gained 273 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 214. The former also becomes the first USA president elect to gain more than seventy millions of vote casts.
Senator Kamala Harris becomes vice president elect. She has made history as first black woman to ever be elected America’s second powerful person.
With president Donald Trump announcing he won’t concede defeats, but taking legal actions from Monday, Joe Biden has called for “calm” from all Americans.
World leaders have reacted positively to Trump’s defeats, with UK’s Borris Johnson, Edgar Lungu of Zambia, Emmanuel Macron of France, George Weah of Liberia, among others conveying their congratulatory messages.
“We did it, we did it Joe, you’re now going to be the president of the United States,” Kamala Harris, US vice president elect, captured phoning president elect, Joe Biden.
President elect, Joe Biden is expected to address the Americans at 4am (Ugandan Time, 8pm ET) on Sunday (Saturday).
On Monday, Joe Biden, according to CNN will appoint a 12 member taskforce for Covid-19 in America.
His inauguration and swearing in ceremony will take place on 20 January 2020.
