Mbarara – 7 November 2020: The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and a candidate for president in the upcoming general elections has promised to cause a number of changes once elected.
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine told Ugandans and his supporters while launching NUP’s manifesto for 2021-2026 in Kakyeka stadium, Mbarara City, Saturday.
“Our promise to the youth of Uganda, we shall ensure we find meaningful employment for you,” he said.
“We want to create at least 5 million jobs. We shall invest in technology and a massive scale of industrialization,” Bobi Wine added, with cheers from his supporters.
On land, on behalf of NUP, he promised all Ugandans that “we shall safeguard your land. We shall put an end to the enormous scale of land grabbing. If it is done, justice must prevail”.
“Boda bodas, taxi operators, mechanics, etc.; the principal will be that if you work hard, you must earn from your labour,” he says.
Bobi Wine promised to stop “witchunt of business owners”, stating that “we shall ensure taxes imposed on businesses are reasonable and taxes put to good use”.
Mothers, he called them, “let me promise this – never again will you feel unsafe when giving birth. We must have maternal facilities at every sub-county in the country so mothers don’t move long distances to look for a health facility”.
On health sector improvement, Bobi Wine says his administration will be guided by the Maputo Protocol and Abuja Declaration to ensure at least 15% of the national budget goes to health sector.
He promised that local investors will be treated with dignity, and the same as foreign investors.
