Tuesday: Amuru, Kyotera contacts and alerts test positive for Covid-19

National – 24, June 2020: The Ministry of Health on Wednesday morning released Covid-19 results for Tuesday, confirming eight new cases.

The cases are: Six truck drivers from Points of Entry: Three from Mutukula, two from Elegu, and one from Malaba all tested positive.

Two are among contacts and alerts from Amuru and Kyotera districts. As of now, Uganda’s total confirmed cases are 805.

According to the Ministry, fourteen foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19 in Uganda and were returned to their respective countries.

Total recoveries stand at 717, adds the Ministry.

It also confirmed that 1,521 samples from Points of Entry were tested whilst 675 samples were tested from contacts and alerts

Total samples tested today on Tuesday were 2,196.

Meanwhile, a total of 473,007 face masks have been distributed to communities in Isingiro district to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the population.

This was officiated by State Minister for Health in charge of General Duties, Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.

To-date, 2,220,601 face masks have been distributed to 8 districts of: Amuru, Kyotera, Busia, Adjumani, Isingiro, Rakai and Moyo.

This includes 590,606 face masks for Arua district that will be delivered on Thursday (tomorrow).

The Ministry of Health says this is part of government measures to prevent spread of Covid-19.

“Government of Uganda is distributing free face masks to communities starting with border districts, districts with cities and municipalities, districts along the cargo truck routes, others,” statement adds.
