National—23, June 2020: Results from samples tested on Monday, 22 June 2020 confirm 23 new cases. “All confirmed cases are Ugandan nationals,” the Ministry of Health says on Tuesday, in a statement.
Uganda’s total Covid-19 confirmed cases has now reached 797.
The Ministry, in a press release signed by Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, Director General Health Services says five new cases were among 1,308 samples tested from Points of Entry while eighteen were among 911 samples of alerts and contacts.
A total of thirteen truck drivers, he says, among them eight Kenyans, two Tanzanians, one Burundian, one Eritrean and one Rwandan tested positive for Covid-19 and were handed over to their countries of origin.

Confirmed cases
According to Dr Mwebesa, five of the confirmed cases are truck drivers, among them: Three who arrived from Kenya via Malaba while the other two arrived from Elegu and Bunagana Points of Entry.
Eighteen of the confirmed cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases: Ten are from Tororo and were under quarantine at the time of test, three are from Amuru district, of which one was an illegal entrant and was detected at Elegu Point of Entry, four are from Kyotera while one was from Yumbe district and was under quarantine at the time of test.
“Uganda has registered a total of 699 recoveries and to date no Covid-19 related death has been recorded,” Dr Mwebesa added.
