Kampala—30, May 2020: The country’s Ministry of Health has confirmed 12 new coronavirus disease cases on Friday.
This brings the total confirmed positive virus cases for Uganda to 329
Five new cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu and seven cases are contacts to previously confirmed cases. “All were under quarantine at the time of test.”
Additionally, the Ministry says 25 positive foreign truck drivers were handed over to their country of origin.

A fortnight ago, the Ministry of Health with support from government of Uganda launched a new campaign dubbed #TONSEMBERERA, loosely translated as “Keep Your Distance”. This campaign seeks to appeal to all Ugandans to observe a 4 meter distance while in public.
“Keep Your Distance” campaign is also aimed at seeing no mass spread of coronavirus within the community. The country has recorded an encouraging community infections rate since March when the first case was announced.
