The Resident District Commissioner [RDC] Jinja has been shown the exit door by the Office of the President.
Mr Sakwa until his sacking has been at the centre of debates. Sources say he has been sanctioning suspects’ assault during arrest and while in the detention facilities.
Recently, he ordered for the arrest of a Kamuli based Pastor, Andrew Muwanguzi who’s aligned to People Power chief mobilizer, Bobi Wine.
On his order, the Man of God was arrested and tortured by Sakwa’s boys, Pr Muwanguzi told TND News – two weeks ago.
The outgoing RDC has personally been charged with manslaughter and theft.
According to one of the Jinja’s famous residents, he has also been in bad books with some politicians in the district – some of whom are members of the ruling party, NRM.
That aside, his problem arose last month when he and two others – and other still at large [according to charge sheet presented to Court] were charged with manslaughter and theft.
The embattled RDC and two others who pleaded not guilty to the offences before the Magistrates Court on April 24, 2020. They were soon remanded to Kirinya government prison until 3, May 2020.
His job loss.
A letter dated 4, May 2020 and signed by Hajji Yunus Kakande who’s the secretary to the Office of the President directs the RDC to forthwith handover office.
Sakwa’s office has been offered to Jinja District Internal Security Officer [DISO] who will occupy in acting capacity until otherwise decided.
He has been directed not to masquerade in his former capacity as an existing RDC. He will be getting half of his monthly salary until he’s fully replaced by the appointing authority.
TND News on Friday evening spoke to one of the famous Jinja residents who said Sakwa’s sacking “could be fake”.
According to this man who asked not to be named, Sakwa is politically being destroyed.
“You see, this man is a locals’ man. What he does is admired by Jinja residents and news of his sacking could be fake,” he added.
“He has had a longstanding land wars with Jinja Municipality East MP Moses Balyeku Grace. The MP has been fighting him since he appeared before the Commission of Lands Inquiry over a government land he grabbed, and the RDC has been against his move,” famous Jinja resident added.
Mr Sakwa has also publicly said MP Balyeku was planning to kill him.
