Omoro – On Monday, Omoro district engineer Patrick Obwoyo was arrested by a team from the Inspectorate of Governance (IGG) Gulu office.

He was soon whisked away to Kampala over allegation of misuse of office and government property.

Mr Geoffrey Matovu, the regional officer for the IGG in Gulu, said – according to Radio Rupiny.

According to Gulu based radio, the IGG also arrested Otim Monex, the driver of a wheel loader for Omoro district local government.

Mr Otim was arrested for allegedly using the loader for his private work.

Both Otim and Obwoyo have been accused of using a government wheel loader, with registration number UG2025W to clear a piece of land that belongs to one Joe Lamony Francis in Awere trading centre in May 2018.

Matovu says: “The two suspects diverted the wheel loader which was meant to work on a road in Bobi.”

However, it was used on a private land in Awere, 70 kilometers from the government site.

He says they were taken to Kampala and will appear before anti-corruption Court today to answer the charges of “abuse of office and misuse of government property”.
