Why Kamdini TC leaders beating redundant youth

Oyam – Some local leaders in Kamdini town council, Oyam South Constituency have embarked on canning redundant youths who are loitering in the town council.

The suffering youth, according to leaders have “no clear businesses” they are operating and “is causing a lot of criminal cases in the area”.

Sarah Anena, one of the residents of Kamdini town council revealed that they are facing a lot of house break-ins by some of the redundant youths.

She says most of them are now living in fears, for their properties can be stolen anytime.

“These thieves can even break into your house even at day time when most of the people have gone for their various works and businesses,” she added.

Apio Agness, another resident also revealed that there is even fears for life “as these youths sometimes attack people going home from work”.

Jacob Ochen, who’s the LC1 chairperson for Amenye village in Kamdini Town Council tasked parents to look for what their children can do to engage them in a productive activities.

He added: “We have resolved to cane some of them when caught as one of the mechanisms to shape and make them desist from theft and other bad acts in the town council.”

Harriet Ogani, a female councilor for Tenam Western Ward to Kamdini town council says there is theft cases “because most of the youth cannot listen to their parents.”

Moses Omara, the LC1 chairperson Kamdini town council said that parents to always look after their children, adding: “Youths must engage in productive activities to keep them busy.”

Ogwang Sam Paul, the LC3 chairperson Kamdini town council says they shall launch an operation to chase away any person who is not doing formal business in the town council in order to control the rising theft cases and other hooliganism being exercised by these youths.

The rising thefts, they say are high due to the strategic location of Kamdini town council that is attracting people from across the region who are looking for better life.

Kamdindi town council is hosting more than 10 different nationalities, including, top among them Somali nationals and Congolese.
