Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party on Saturday set up new leadership structures in preparation for the 2021 election to over throw the ruling party, NRM, out of power
During the launch that took place in Gulu district and presided over by Leader of Opposition, Hon Betty Aol Ocan and a section of the party leaders under its branded regime, “the people’s government”, leaders were tasked to restore, work hard and win power back for the people.
The structure entailed position like regional governors, deputy governors, district commissioners at sub-county, parish officer and village chairman. The positions were undertaken through an election.
The former member of Parliament for Gulu municipality, Achire Christopher was elected as the regional governor; district commissioners were Odongo George Otto (Agago), Abonga Moses (Lamwo), Okeny Benard Onen (Pader), Anena Lilly (Amuru), Komakech Kelly ( Gulu) and Okot Johnson ( Kitgum), and Lakony Michael as the party (assembly) speaker.
Aol Betty Ocan, leader of opposition said the formation of these structures is to solidly prepare them as people’s government to overthrow the current dictatorial government of president Museveni.
“We should stay firm and work hard in this struggle by mobilizing the general public and leaders in the party,” She tasked.
Encouraging the elected party leaders to undertake sacrificial principles, she added: “Because the advancement demands a lot”.
Gilbert Olanya, Member of Parliament for Kilak South Constituency in Amuru district said “no party shall ever reach the level of FDC even if they are to gang up, they shall never score 5% in the general election”.
Olanya urged members of the party to never despise any lower level leaders serving under the umbrella.
Iram Ochola, the party coordinator laments sacrificing and rejuvenating their hearts is the first step they have taken to strengthen their struggle in preparation to over throw the ruling party.
