The Omoro County MP, who also doubles as the deputy speaker of the 10th Parliament, Rt. Hon.Jacob Oulanyah has donated over 600 bags of rice to his constituents.
According to MP Oulanyah, he says the contribution is part of his political compaign in 2016 to support the communities in Omoro County in many ways.
While giving the bags of rice to the people of Lakwana sub-county on Monday, his political assistant, Ben Acelam says deputy speaker will give more supports to the entire Acholi sub-region.
TND News could not understand how much was used to buy the bags of rice.
He says recently Mr. Oulanyah, after the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) Betty Aol Ocan, who is also the Woman Member of Parliament for Gulu district was blocked by police to meet people in Apaa who were evicted, went there and met them and ordered for supply of food items to the people in Apaa who are suffering after graveful evictions by government security agencies.
According to Acelam, MP Oulanyah is now giving scholarship to over 100 youth to continue with higher learning, despite that, he says the seasoned politician is also giving support to the SACCO groups in Omoro County like Omoro Youth Boda Boda SACCOs, Dano Pa Dano SACCO and many others.
In his counsel the people of Omoro and Acholi, he urged farmers to work tirelessly in order to eradicate poverty in their households.
He says agriculture is the only way that ‘our youth who are unemployed can invest in to transform their livelihoods’.
