It is alleged that Akello Kavine, a mother of one and a resident of Atar village, Abedi parish in Apac sub-county broke into the shop of Mr Onyolo Denish – a resident of Alwala cell, Central Ward, Akree division in Apac municipality on Wednesday morning and stole Uganda shillings 37,000 and other shop’s valuables.
Akello who was being hosted as a visitor at the home of Mr Onyolo, a man he stole his goods and cash, a week ago disappeared from home.
A search for her started after the case of theft was reported to the office of the area LC1.
She was arrested by the LC1 defense team in an attempt to escape to her home village.
The suspected thief was beaten by the angry residents who over powered the village defense, leaving her with severe injuries.
She soon pleaded guilty and confessed to have stolen the money when the owner of the shop had gone to the garden.
The mother of one was rushed to Apac Main Hospital for medical treatment she obtained from thorough beatings and thumping, our reporter, Jasper Ouni reports
The area LC1 chairman of Alwala cell, Mr Arwai Emmanuel cautioned his members against acting outside the law and called for calm when a
crime suspect is arrested so that it may not caused more problems.
The village chief warned people against welcoming strangers in the area without informing the office of the LC1 since it is a threat to the security.
When contacted for a comment, the acting District Police Commander for Apac District, Mr Khalifan Chamtai says his office is yet to be informed about the matter.
