Tourism State Minister, Godfrey Kiwanda is doing a good job – Uganda’s Ambassador to United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Julius Peter Moto has said.
Mr. Moto’s statement comes just a few days after Minister Kiwanda launched Miss Curvy Contest 2019 in which Uganda’s curvaceous – Big Size plus women, aged 18-35 years will compete.
After the launch Tuesday, Ugandans from all walks of life, key among them female lawmakers and Head of the Anglican Church, Archbishop Stanley Ntagali have come out to strongly condemned the junior Minister for launching “immoral contest”.
The allegations, however, has been refuted by Kiwanda and CEO Miss Curvy Uganda, Annie Mungoma – who spoke to TND News Thursday morning.
Annie says the contest has nothing to do with bad intentions, specifically promoting prositution.
“He has made Ugandans, who are “experts in every thing”, to talk about tourism by doing sensational and pleasurable work in tourism…and that is what tourism is all about. Fun. Sight seeing. Food. Pleasure. Photos. Sounds,” Julius Moto wrote on his Facebook timeline, Thursday morning.
“With him in the helm, he has made tourism more interesting!”
“In 2018, Uganda’s tourism sector registered the best performance since independence.”
“Next time he should bring on muscular men to Mr Tourism,” Ambassador said.
