Police asks well-wishers to support 65 street kids under their custody

Gulu police have arrested 65 street children who were in possession of harmful items, including house break-in metals.

Speaking to the press in Gulu town on Monday – Patrick Jimmy Okema who’s the Aswa region police spokesperson says most of the street kids are looking for sources of living.

He appealed to well-wishers in the district to take up the responsibility of taking care of the 65 in custody and those at large.

Okema also calls on different organization and individuals to take up the liability and pay some of the kids in vocational training centers so that they are self reliant.

“We arrested 65 street kids during an operation on the 4th January this year in all the four divisions of Pece, Layibi, Laroo and Bar Dege, all in Gulu Municipality,” he added.

Okema reveals that majority of the teenagers arrested were in possession of breaking implements, containers of opium and sticks, among others.
